I took my road trip for 2 and half hours and I learned that Kentucky makes everyone car sick and gravel roads that go up mountains are nothing like the gravel roads on a farm. I never realized how much I had or how our poor is nothing like East Kentucky until I realized that no one really cleans up the roads like we do in MO. Buses and old cars on the side of the road, gravel roads all over the mountains. This is a coal driven area and these people love the nature, but at the same time they need money. So they give up their mountains to help feed their families. But this is about Orientation not the Kentucky community, but one of the main things we all talked about was Kentucky and how those in the Appalachian were first the rebels of the area, the murders, religiously prosecuted, thieves, and so on. So pretty much the first people living in the mountains were the outcasts. The the coal came and the miners came. Being a coal miner was not the best job, but it paid well (still does) and provided homes, food, and life to the mountains. One thing I learned about East Kentucky is each place is different, there are very poor, very rich in the same area, and middle class all over the place.

Lessons of Kentucky
October is drawing near and I have some lessons about Kentucky (or possibility CAP) to share... don't get offended, and it might only be my thinking involved

Traveling again
I wonder if I'll ever get use to traveling. I don't hate traveling or visiting people or trying new things. I just hate packing, unpacking, sleeping on a different bed and long car rides. I actually don't mind riding in a car, but I have been getting in and out of cars all this month and I'm just wishing I could just think about a place and appear there instead of driving. However there is no reason for me to complain, because looking at the schedule it seems like I will be moving around for orientation, CAP retreat, and other things all of October. So I just need to suck it up, pack my bags and be pumped for this next week.
One week down
Today was ten times better than last night. Things were kind of crazy last night and it was very disheartening. I was a little upset about some of the situations and a little scared about some other things that were going on.God must have been working hard, because all of the problems were gone by the time I went into work today. I from 3:00pm-11:00pm and it took way less energy than yesterday. I was so happy with how well everyone behaved and how little fights there were. I also learned all about the paperwork and I feel like I have more knowledge of not just my job, but of the rules and responsibilities of the people I am working with.

Home Sweet Home, Kentucky
The first thing I learned about Kentucky is no one is rushing to get everything done. The second thing I learned from Kentucky is time doesn't equal money and when you have free time don't feel bad if you aren't constantly being productive. I don't know if it is my personality or the fact that I am so use to being constantly busy, but having this free time kind of makes me feel bad.
