Friday, I worked the night shift and everyone there seemed to be very tired. Things were kind of , but we made it through. The plan was to go to the Respite dance, but things came up and we ended up watching a movie and do babysitting. Everything went pretty well, but us volunteers were kind of worn out and were ready to leave at 9:30. Lucky for us we got to go home around 11:00. But instead of being smart and go straight to bed, we went over to our neighbors and chatted it up. We talked about food (I was hungry), how the day and night went and just everything.

Loans, Meetings, and Pumpkins
I feel very productive today. I got my loans figured out until I get my Americore award. :-) I was surprised at how easy it was to defer my loans. I don't think the woman on the phone completely understood that I was actually choosing not work and wouldn't have a job until next year. I know right now money is something everyone seems to be worrying about, so it is kind of a relief knowing that I am choosing to be poor. I do know that with out my Americore award I may have interest being added to my loans, so I am hoping and praying I get the award before November and I don't have interest added to my loans after my grace period.

Its Wednesday!
Today was Wednesday and it was my second day of working first shift. I would say I loved it, but it was kind of sad due to not really being in the shelter at all. I had my CPR training and lucky for me I don't have to get first aid training for another two years. :-) So I spent most of the morning going over checking the scene, removing foreign objects, and compressions on plastic dummies. But no worries I can now perform CPR on adults, children, and babies. I can save so many lives, but even though I am certified I would prefer it if someone else did it. I also learned about Blood Borne Pathogens and how wearing gloves and other protective items saves me from getting AID, HIV, and other lovely diseases from trying to save lives.

Day Shift, Mail, House Meeting, and Panera (aka Bread Co)
Day Shift as always is really slow in the morning and crazy right before I leave. All I did today was childcare and correct a child when she acted rudely to her mother. I enjoyed childcare, because the children are great, but I'm still not all excited about paperwork. I'm excited to work second shift so someone else will do the paperwork :-).
Sunday and Monday
Today is Monday and things seem to be going slow as always. I'm working the night shift today so I have all day to make phone calls, do laundry, and relax. I did the same thing yesterday too. I have spent most of the past two days in bed watching tv on hulu or in a big chair watching tv and movies. But once I went to work my laziness went away and I got right back into working. Today I went into work early so I would be able to take off an hour for dinner. When I arrived a class started and I had child care. It was fun working with the kids. The male volunteer from next door dropped by and helped out during child care. This was awesome, because it allowed us other volunteers give more one on one attention to other children. I actually played catch with one of our boys. Since there are no tennis balls, or any type sport toys we used a ball of play dough in the play room. This is something I would never do in my own house or even at a place I would be babysitting at, but I felt sometimes you need to break common understandable rules to get a sense of a normal setting.
