Where's Anha!

Life at the shelter can be hard, because there is constantly something going on and someone who needs you. I try not to tell people how hard it is, becuase I love it there despite the trouble I deal with on certain days. There are residents that drive me crazy and children that are completely out of control. There are also days when I eat some much chocolate, because of some of the things I see and hear suring the day. Even with all the crazy things I see and hear, I still wouldn't tade jobs with anyone.  yes, this job and hard and not everyone can handle it. right now there is a volunteer here who seems to not beable to cope with the stress of a regular day and honestly I don't blame her. I love this place and Kentucky, but I know for sure I would die from stress if I stayed with the shelter for another year.

127 Hours

I started my day with pancakes, trying to get a hold of my father and watching 127 hours. Sadly, I cannot stomach watching a movie where a man cuts off his own arm. So instead I continued playing phone tag with my father and start packing for my Kansas City/ Saint Louis trip. I'm nervous and very excited for a extended trip, because I have never traveled alone in awhile and never to see so many people that I love and enjoy seeing. As I was packing some girls from other volunteer houses came over and asked if I wanted to go hiking. I wanted to workout earlier, but it was wet and gross outside, but hiking sounded good. We went to the Pinniacles again and it was worth the mug covered jeans and missing my father's attempt to reach me. Not that talking to my dad is a bad thing, but today we actually saw buzzards up close and personal when we were on the mountains. They were so close I actually was able to look one in the eye and there were about five of them circling the tip of the mountain.  It was amazing.

Sappy Movies, 10 hour days and I'm still in Kentucky

Today I worked a 10 hour day. I am actually liking these 10 hours days. I am tired afterwords, but I have been sleeping better and I have been getting farther in my hours. Right now I am at 701.75 hours left before I am done. I'm not rushing to be done, but it would be nice to be done with them before hand so I don't need to rush to finish. At this rate I should be done by the end of August, but I'm hoping to be done before then... hopefully.

15 minutes hike

This weekend was slightly short due to working on Saturday and dealing with crazy residents, but on Sunday I went to Mass ordered my prescriptions and up-loaded some photos. It was nice outside so a girl from the McCreary trailer and I were going to go on a hike at Yahoo Falls, but time was an issue, so instead we just did a fast 15 minute hike/ jog around Cumberland Falls. These falls (that we didn't make it to) were called Dog Slather falls I believe. Anyways It was a beautiful run/ hike/ jog and I hope to do it again, but this time as a hike than a jog. I also thought I would share some pictures of the adventure too.

I love the Shelter!

It has been crazy, but I'm enjoying it besides the random crazy people who try to buy cigarettes without having money. I have only been back two days, but I am doing so much better. I don't know if I have finally gotten a second wind or if I have come to the conclusion that I need to just live. I worked 20 hours so far, but I'm completely okay with it, because I was enjoying myself even when I had some crazy moments of going all over the place. Today was a good day overall and I thought I would share.
