I know this blog is about a week late, but that is what happens when all I have been doing was sleeping and working. I did make dinner this week, but I would have died without my house-mate's help. Over the past two weeks I have been allover Cumberland Valley and it turns out that I won't be home for two more weeks.

Humanity and Safety
Today was something else, we started off short staffed due to people taking off and people needing to go to conferences and stuff. This would normally not be a big deal only having four staff, because we are low on numbers and our ladies have been getting along for the most part. However, things weren't meant to go perfectly today. I can't go into a lot of details, but around noon an argument took place and some things were said and I was forced to take action. By the end of my eight hour shift I had helped one of my residents pack and move her out and then packed up another resident's stuff and kick her out of the shelter.

All work and play equals no sleep
It seems that if one works 52 hours and then goes out whenever I am free there seems to be a very short period to sleep and relax. I'm kind of surprised that I am still able to function normally or halfway normally. I'm probably getting to the point where if I don't start sleeping more I'll probably get really sick. Sadly, I have not allowed myself time to sleep and get other things done too. So for now I am getting the minimal amount of sleep and the maximum amount of work and community time, while everything else is going by the way side.

Birthday and future on my mind
Today is Wednesday Feb 16th and tomorrow is the big 21, but that really isn’t the big thing that is on my mind. Today I got my birthday card from my parents and receive two gift cards, one for my first drink at Applebee and another to either buy shoes, personal items, or food from Wal-Mart. I guess I could buy alcohol from Wal-Mart, but that seems silly since I am not allowed to have it on any CAP property.

Valentine's Day at a Shelter
Happy Valentine's Day! I don't like Valentine's DAY and I really see no reason to get worked up about it or upset about not being able to celebrate it. Then again I am also a single 20 year old girl who seems to have no obligations to celebrate it. The only thing I had to do this Valentine's day was go to work, play with some children and do some paper work. One can't complain when she has no man to cry over... then again it is slightly upsetting being in a shelter full of women wronged by men and have a whole night of it. Of course without asking God gave me something very enjoyable. This Valentine's Day could have been ten times worse, but honestly it was a great night. We were down to three children and all of them went to bed early. Also our women were very okay with spending this Valentine's alone. Actually we had a party to just celebrate, celebrating. One of our residents took out some of her food and drinks and shared with the rest of the residents while the other residents seemed to bond together and avoided having conflicts for a while night. (Now that is a blessing in itself :-) )
